On October 13, 2026, at the Vietnamese Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria, the Nigeria Vovinam Viet Vo Dao Federation (NVVF) participated in the Guardian Girls International (GGI) program, which aims to promote women’s participation in sports while expanding the Vovinam Viet Vo Dao movement in Nigeria and across Africa.
The event was attended by Mr. Le Viet Hoang, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Federal Republic of Nigeria. As part of the program, members of the NVVF introduced and performed Vovinam during the opening ceremony, helping promote the image, martial arts spirit, and humanistic values of Vietnam’s traditional martial art to the international community. In addition, the NVVF signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Guardian Girls International to strengthen support, training, and development opportunities for women in Vovinam in Nigeria. This partnership aims to provide more women and girls with opportunities to practice martial arts, enhance their self-defense skills, and build confidence in their daily lives.

Earlier, on October 12, 2026, in Abuja, Mr. Shin Koyamada, Founder of Guardian Girls International (GGI) , together with representatives of the Nigeria Vovinam Viet Vo Dao Federation (NVVF), met with Mr. Habu Gumel, President of the Nigerian Olympic Committee (NOC), and representatives of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) to discuss potential areas of cooperation in sports development across the region. The discussions focused on opportunities to promote Vovinam and strengthen its presence in major continental sporting events, including the African Games, African School Games, African Beach Games, and African Youth Games.

These initiatives offer promising opportunities to strengthen Vovinam’s presence in regional sporting programs while fostering cultural exchange, international cooperation, and the sustainable development of the Vovinam Viet Vo Dao movement in Nigeria in particular and across Africa as a whole.
