According to Mr. Praveen Garg, President of the Vovinam Association of India and Secretary General of the Asian Vovinam Federation, the event featured instruction from two leading Vietnamese technical experts: Master Huynh Khac Nguyen, Technical Director of the World Vovinam Federation, and Pham Chi Thinh, Coach of the Technical Committee of the Vietnam Vovinam Federation. The two experts directly conducted training sessions on advanced techniques, self-defense applications, competition rules, refereeing, coaching methodologies, and the latest international technical standards.

Vovinam, Vietnam’s traditional martial art recognized by the Olympic Council of Asia, has experienced remarkable growth in India over the past decade. The discipline is now practiced across numerous Indian states, attracting increasing numbers of young people, students, and sports organizations. To date, India has successfully organized 14 National Vovinam Championships, demonstrating the rapid development and growing popularity of the martial art throughout the country.

The next National Vovinam Championship is scheduled to take place in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in August 2026 and is expected to attract more than 1,500 athletes from across the country. The championship will also serve as a key selection event for the Indian National Team, which will represent the country at the upcoming Asian Vovinam Championship in Cambodia later this year.

According to the organizers, the current training camp has also been specially designed as part of India’s long-term preparation strategy for both the forthcoming Asian Championship and the 2027 World Vovinam Championship, which is expected to be held in Algeria.

Recognizing India’s increasingly important role in the international Vovinam movement, the World Vovinam Federation regularly dispatches senior technical experts from Vietnam to support training programs in the country. The presence of Vietnamese experts is expected to help Indian athletes, coaches, and referees gain access to the latest international standards, thereby enhancing their competitiveness at both regional and global levels.

The program also serves as a testament to the positive contributions of Vovinam in promoting cultural exchange, friendship, and sports cooperation between Vietnam and India.
