“Founded in 1938 by the Founder Master Nguyễn Lộc, Vovinam Việt Võ Đạo has evolved over nearly a century. Vovinam is not just a martial art for physical training and self-defense; it is a moral framework and a philosophy of life. Its guiding principle is timeless: “Live, help others live, and live for everyone.” This is not only a lesson for practitioners but also a life philosophy, affirming that martial arts are not meant to create aggressive individuals but to nurture strong, compassionate, and responsible members of society. This spirit has been the guiding thread throughout all Vovinam activities, spreading from Vietnam to every corner of the globe.
In today’s world, where gender-based violence and the safety of women and girls remain global concerns, the Guardian Girls Vovinam program demonstrates a remarkable connection between the philosophy of Vietnamese martial arts and universal human values. This program equips women with essential self-defense skills, but more importantly, it gives them confidence, calmness, and courage to face danger. Beyond training, it affirms the belief that every woman has the right to live safely, be respected, and be protected. Guardian Girls Vovinam, therefore, is more than a martial arts program; it is a deeply humanitarian social movement contributing to global efforts for gender equality and human rights.
As the Chief Master of Vovinam, I fully recognize the responsibility of our Vovinam family in this noble mission. Every master, every practitioner is not only a student of martial arts but also a torchbearer, spreading positive values to the community. We have a duty to stand alongside women in the fight against violence, providing not only self-defense tools but also confidence, resilience, and autonomy. In this way, Vovinam becomes both a physical and spiritual shield for all communities, especially for the most vulnerable.
I strongly believe that in the future, the Guardian Girls program will expand beyond Vietnam to countries where women and girls still need protection. When that happens, the spirit of Vietnamese martial arts will serve as a shared inspiration for humanity, helping build a more peaceful, fair, and compassionate world.
On behalf of Vovinam Việt Võ Đạo, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the international organizations that have supported us, to the leaders, training centers, instructors, and all practitioners worldwide who have committed themselves to this noble journey. Together, we pledge to continue developing Guardian Girls Vovinam, turning it into a broad and sustainable movement so that every woman can live in safety, confidence, and dignity”.
