THE WORLD VOVINAM FEDERATION (WVVF)

The World Vovinam Federation (WVVF) was officially established on September 27, 2008 in Algiers, Algeria. This event marked an important step in the internationalization of the traditional martial art Vovinam Viet Vo Dao – a martial art founded by Master Nguyen Loc in 1938 in Vietnam.

1. Background

Before the establishment of WVVF, many Vovinam federations and organizations were operating in countries such as France, Germany, Algeria, Italy, the United States… but there was no central agency to coordinate it.

The founding congress of the World Vovinam Federation was attended by representatives from more than 30 countries, demonstrating the spread of Vovinam globally.

2. Main goals and functions of WVVF

Unifying and managing Vovinam activities worldwide.

Issue competition rules, technical standards, belt levels and training according to international standards.

Organize international events such as the World Vovinam Championship, International Conferences, training camps, international belt promotion exams, etc.

Develop and promote Vovinam in new countries through cooperation with national and international sports federations and organizations.

3. Outstanding activities

Organize regular Vovinam World Championships (usually every 2 years).

Cooperate with continental federations such as:

Asian Vovinam Federation (AVF)

European Vovinam Federation (EVVF)

African Vovinam Federation (AFVF)

Coordinate with the Olympic Committee and international sports organizations to bring Vovinam into multinational sports events such as the SEA Games, Asian Indoor Games, etc.

4. Headquarters and organization

The headquarters of WVVF is currently located in Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

The organizational structure includes:

Executive Committee and specialized committees (Technical, Referee, Competition, Communication…)
